19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
